Cambrils

Historically, coastal villages have always been 'open to the four winds'. Like a typical seaside village- simple, hard-working, open and friendly- Cambrils has learned to harmoniously combine the myriad of influences brought here by travellers from near and far with the roots of our culture, cultivated in a mild climate that invites tolerance and makes this an ideal place to live, work, visit and enjoy.

High quality and pleasant people are two of the town's most outstanding characteristics.

Tourists usually visit Cambrils for the sun and beach, but more and more people are coming to enjoy our food and our culture, discover our traditions, do all kinds of sports, and to take in the sights in the surrounding area.

Cambrils is located right in the heart of the Costa Dorada, which is one of the primary tourist destinations in Catalonia. The short distance to other towns of great interest such as Roman Tarragona, Modernist Reus, Salou, La Pineda, the Priorat region or the Cistercian routes makes Cambrils the point of both departure and return for lots of different excursions that let you get an up-close look at what the region has to offer.

Another big attraction is the Port Aventura theme park, which is only 10 kilometres away.

The Beach

One of our best and most treasured attractions, Cambrils fine golden sand beaches extend for 9 kilometres -the perfect place to enjoy the marvellous Mediterranean climate.

Our beaches are top quality, as the blue flags they've been awarded by the European Union show, and gentle slopes make them very safe for the wee ones.

What's more, skirting the beach is the Passeig Marítim, the seaside promenade, where you can enjoy the peace and quiet of Cambrils' coast on foot, or by bike on the cycle path.

Gastronomy

Cambrils is considered the culinary capital of the Costa Dorada, an authentic paradise of high quality cuisine. Our original and exquisite fish and seafood dishes are made using the freshest fish, magnificent olive oil and the best ingredients. We invite you to try some of Cambrils' most traditional dishes at any of the many prestigious restaurants specialising in fish and seafood. You absolutely must try fideus rossos (fine blond noodles), graellada de peix (fish grill platter) or graellada de marisc (seafood grill platter), suquet de peix (fish casserole), arròs negre (rice with squid ink), and the delicious sauces created by our chefs: Allioli, romesco, picada sauce, our mayonnaise, and our star product: DO Siurana olive oil, renowned as one of the finest olive oils in the world.

If there is one thing that defines Cambrils it's the food, which is known throughout Europe. The food here is characterised by our use of age-old traditional recipes and our fine seafood cuisine.

Our cuisine hinges on the recognition of the value of originality and exquisite beauty, and above all, high-quality ingredients, all of which come from our town, products from our earth, our sea and our excellent olive oil to top it all off and dress everything up.

This is why Cambrils has become, its undeniable fishing tradition aside, the culinary capital of the Costa Dorada and home to an authentic cooking tradition, illustrated by the professionals who graduate from our hotel and catering school.

To further enhance your enjoyment of our fine food, all of our restaurants offer a select wine list with wines and cavas (sparkling wine), as well as sweet pastries to satisfy the palates of serious gourmets.

Shopping

Daily shopping, gifts for family and friends, antiques, knick-knacks, things for your home, local products ... you can find all this in Cambrils shops, which are bustling with activity throughout the year and are an important part of the local economy.

The main shopping areas are the seaside promenade and the port, and the narrow streets loaded with history in the old town, where visitors and locals alike can shop while strolling through the town. It's fun to just watch as friendly shopkeepers deal amicably with their customers.

These two markets are must-sees when you are doing your shopping and strolling: the Pòsit municipal market and the town's municipal market, one in each shopping district - the port and the old town.

The weekly market in the old town has a wide variety of stalls where you can buy just about anything. Also, let's not forget the local produce and, of course the star of the show, DO Siurana olive oil, considered one of the best olive oils in the world.

To sum up, the quality and diversity of products offered here makes shopping in Cambrils a temptation that is impossible to resist.
